A buttock lift, also known as buttock augmentation, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to give the buttocks a fuller, more shapely, and lifted appearance. This procedure can be performed using different techniques, with the most common being the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). In BBL, fat is harvested from areas such as the abdomen, hips, or thighs and then injected into the buttocks to add volume and shape. BBL can provide natural-looking and long-lasting results.
The BBL procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and lasts between 1 to 3 hours. After the surgery, patients may stay in the hospital for a few days and experience a recovery period of 4-6 weeks. The recovery process varies from person to person, but complete healing generally takes up to 6 months. During the first week, patients will experience pain and swelling. Ice packs and prescribed painkillers should be used. Mobility is limited during the first week, and a special compression garment may be required. If drains are placed, they are usually removed after one or two days. Consult with your doctor before showering.
During the second to fourth weeks, pain and swelling decrease. Patients can move more freely but should avoid strenuous activities. Numbness and tingling in the surgical area may occur, which is normal and temporary. The compression garment may still need to be worn. After the sixth week, normal activities can be resumed, but heavy lifting and intense activities should still be avoided. The use of the compression garment becomes optional at this stage. Surgical scars may still be visible but will fade over time. Full recovery is typically observed after six months.
To ensure long-lasting results, get plenty of rest, eat healthily, and stay hydrated. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and heavy activities during this period.
