Facelift surgery is a surgical procedure performed to correct sagging skin and wrinkles in the face and neck areas caused by aging. The primary aim of the surgery is to rejuvenate and tighten sagging skin tissue, reduce wrinkles in the face and neck areas, redefine the facial contour, and provide a more youthful and dynamic appearance. This procedure can be performed on people of all ages, but the most effective results are generally seen in patients aged 40-60.

The recovery process after a facelift surgery can vary depending on the patient’s overall health condition, the extent of the surgery, and the technique used. Generally, the stages are as follows:
The first 24-48 hours after the surgery are the most critical period. During this time, swelling, bruising, pain, and discomfort may occur. Using prescribed pain relievers and antibiotics will help. Applying cold compresses and keeping the head elevated reduces swelling and pain. It is important to drink plenty of fluids and rest.

After the first week, swelling and bruising will decrease, and stitches, if any, may be removed. It is essential to avoid makeup and sun exposure. A feeling of tightness and numbness in the face can be experienced, which is normal and temporary.

After the third week, you can gradually return to your daily routine. You may use makeup but do not forget to apply sunscreen. Avoid alcohol and smoking, and refrain from strenuous activities.
