Dental Implants
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made from biocompatible materials, such as titanium, that are placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. These roots support porcelain or zirconium crowns that resemble natural teeth, completing the space of the missing teeth.
Treatment And Recovery Process
The dentist evaluates oral health, examines the jawbone, and determines whether you are suitable for an implant. X-rays and, if necessary, CT scans are taken, and a treatment plan is prepared according to your needs and preferences. Under local or general anesthesia, small incisions are made to access the jawbone, and a special tool is used to create a socket in the bone where the titanium implant is placed. The incision is then closed and stitched. Within 2-6 months, the implant integrates with the jawbone, after which the abutment is attached to the implant.
Purpose Of Treatment
Implants can be done for both aesthetic and functional purposes. Missing teeth due to decay, gum disease, accidents, or other reasons can cause various problems. Dental implants cover these gaps with a natural appearance, prevent jawbone loss, resolve speech issues, and do not harm adjacent teeth.
Suitable Candidates
People with good general health, suitable jawbone structure for implant placement, and no gum disease are eligible for implant treatment.
At what age can implant treatment be done?
The minimum age for treatment is 18, but individuals who have completed jaw development and are in good general health can receive implants.
How should the implant be cared for?
Brush at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush, clean plaque and food particles with dental floss, use antiseptic mouthwash, and have regular dental check-ups.
What should be considered in implant care?
Avoid hard foods like nuts, quit smoking, reduce habits of teeth grinding and clenching, drink plenty of water, and use medications prescribed by the dentist.
What are the risks of implants?
Improperly performed treatment can result in bleeding, pain, damage to adjacent teeth, bone injuries, and sinus damage. However, these risks are significantly low when the implant treatment is performed by experienced, specialist dentists.
What are the costs of implants?
The cost of implant treatment varies based on the number of teeth, the structure of the jawbone, the type and brand of the prosthesis.
